California Dreamin

Wow, has this all been a dream? I've been in SoCal since late (verrrrrry late) Tuesday night and still, I can't believe it. After the flights from hell and arriving San Diego with NO luggage, I finally managed to get settled in and registered. The conference has been interesting and I've met some incredibly nice and interesting people.

Tomorrow I'll hit the good ole San Fernando Valley for a whirlwind visit with old friends and I just can't wait!!

I've been too tired from the conference sessions to get any knitting done. Actually my poor, broken body has barely managed to get me back to my hotel at the end of each day. I had hoped to meet up with Inky while I was here but alas, that was not to be. Maybe before my next trip, I'll miraculously become a person who can put a plan together. Maybe???

I'm tired and will be heading to bed by 8 pm at the latest. Come on Saturday!!

Voulez-vous crochet?

The weekend it did go fast. But it was productive in a lot of ways. No, I didn't get everything done (chores that is) but oh well. Here is the crochet work that I started and finished. The shawls are just ad-libby-ish sort of things, very easy. The ponchette is a Teva Durham pattern that I found on the internet Friday afternoon. Drum roll please...

I really need a model for the ponchette, it is way cute and I've already started another one. Great gift potential and muy instant gratification, love it!

Oh and the red shawl is not as freakishly red as it looks in the pic!

Other than that, I'm as ready for my San Diego trip as I'll ever be. Come to think of it, I'd love to head out for the airport right now.

Better get some work done at my office first though, ciao for now!

Friday! and just in time...

Can I just say? I never thought it would get here? And will the work day ever end? The clock is not moving!

I do have lots of reading to do in preparation for my San Diego trip next week but at this point I doubt if the subject matter would keep me awake!

I have about a million things to get done this weekend and all I really wanna do (sing it Sheryl) is have some fun knitting. Or crocheting. Probably a little of both.

I will try to have some pics for the next post. The wavy scarf is coming along and no telling what I'll cast on this evening.

Have a groovy weekend!!

Yea Hump Day!!!

6 days and counting down to San Diego, yea for moi!!!!!!

Remember how I told you yesterday about the 2 (count 'em 2!) projects I started the evening before? Well I guess that wasn't enough for me. I've been thinking it might be easier to take a crochet project with me for the flight to CA so last night I started a new shawl. I've got a craving for a shawl that can't be satisfied it seems. This one will be simple (stitch-wise anyway) but the yarn is black which is not all that simple. No sense in doing a complex stitch since it won't show up anyway! The real problem of course is that instead of doing the myriad of chores that need to be done before my departure, I'll most likely be working on this darned shawl. It may even be finished before I leave! Good use for a BUNCH of Wool Ease that was bestowed upon me last year though so there may be even more shawls in my future.

Here is a picture of the Wavy scarf. This is the same one that I didn't even touch last night, oy.

And at long last the photo of a completed clapotis. I'm still so very blue about my choice of fibers for this one, sigh...

The picture is not great and doesn't do the colors justice but it still feels rather "plastic-y" and I'm generally bummed about it. I can't bear to think of all the hours work I put into the thing. Oh well...

And just for the fun (and bragging) of it, here's a picture of my favorite pooch. She loves being in her backyard, keeping an eye on the squirrels and birds.

I give up. After trying about 16 times to reposition these pictures, "UNCLE!" Already. I so don't have the patience for this today and my computer is too slow to mess with. I think you can get the idea.

2 days in a row of posting!!!

Something new

I know, it's been a while huh? I'm always so disappointed when I check on a favorite blog and see no new posting and here I am being SO guilty of the same thing. Bad blogger!!

I finished my clapotis. It came out really nice and I'm proud of the finished product. I love looking at all those stitches, so uniform, so neat. The photo session didn't work out well so I'll try that again and get a picture of it on here. The only thing I don't like about it, and it's a biggie, is that I made it with acrylic yarn and it feels awful. I was too intimidated to purchase good yarn for it and now I'm paying the price. I'm pretty sure there's another clapotis in my future but I'll take a break from it first. The pattern was interesting and fun and it's a nice shawl and one I could get a lot of use from so worth the investment.

After that big project (it was a big project for me), I needed something a little quicker so I started a scarf. This is Alchemy's Silk Purse yarn and it feels devine. If only I had kept track of how many different patterns I've tried, it's a wonder the yarn isn't worn out! I'm happy with this one so here we go!

The photo really sucks and you can't tell how wonderful the yarn is but you can make out what it will look like at least.

I guess one little new project wasn't enough so I also started the wavy scarf from knitty. It's pretty cute and fun but no pic. How sick is that anyway? I can't even stick with one little bitty scarf project without getting into another one. And if you remember, there's still that baby blanket for my boss' daughter that needs to be finished. I'm sick!

I'm out of time but will try again with the pictures this evening. Adios!

It's almost too hot to knit. Now if that's not a good description, I don't know what is. Notice I said "almost" because I've managed somehow to carry on. I haven't however, taken any new photos but believe me, that clapotis is coming right along. I've dropped 8 stitches and can't wait to get home tonight to drop some more. I'm counting on having this finished for my San Diego trip week after next, knowing it will come in handy for cold, cold meeting rooms.

I wish I had some interesting tale to share but alas...

Clapotis Finalis!!

Well a beginning picture anyway. Actually I've made much progress since this photo and will be starting the straight rows this evening. I'm still very anxious about how this thing works and can't wait to get it finished.

It's hot in Arkansas today and the bad weekend news is that it will be even hotter. Perfect weather for knitting no? YES! I certainly have no business being outside in that heat. Actually I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time tomorrow at my lys where it will be plenty cool. I need a little help (or at least supervision or at least just moral support) in finishing a poncho that I started a lonnnnnng time ago. It's a gift and so close to being finished, I need my head examined. I've come this far and it's the Colinette Giotto (so pretty and colorful!) and I'm afraid of messing it up and having to start all over. I'm way too insecure huh? Anyway, that's my big weekend plan. Hey, that's pretty good for me.

I still have 4 more hours of work (lunch time now) and I can't wait for it to be over. I love Fridays but sometimes the afternoon part passes too slowly!! If only I could knit...

I'll try to post a new pic of the clappy this weekend. Maybe a finished clappy??
